English 110/115 Instructor Positions

DePauw University is seeking part-time English for Academic Purposes instructors to teach English 110 and/or English 115 to first year multilingual international students. This role involves preparing and teaching one or more sections of English 110/115, holding office hours, and assessing and providing feedback on student work.

Positions are for Fall 2022 beginning August 24, 2022 with the possibility of a Spring 2023 course depending on enrollments.

 

About the courses

Academic English Seminars I and II (ENG 110 and 115) provide support and instruction in academic English and writing. English 110 focuses on developing language skills for advanced academic coursework, including vocabulary, fluency, and sentence-level accuracy, while English 115 develops familiarity and facility with academic writing.

 

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in TESOL, Composition, English, Education, or closely related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience teaching writing, with demonstrated experience working with multilingual students
  • Commitment to working with a diverse group of students and to fostering an inclusive classroom
  • Understanding of the language and writing needs of multilingual students at the college level

 

Appointment and Compensation

Employment will be effective with the first day of classes through the submission of final grades, August 24, 2022 through December 21, 2022 and paid at the rate of $6,049 for candidates with a terminal degree, at the rank of Part-time Assistant Professor of English, and $5,742 for those without a terminal degree, at the rank of Part-time Instructor of English.
