Pillar College invites applications for adjunct faculty in the field of Elementary Education to be assigned for a specific course in a semester or summer session on an as needed basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Master's degree in a relevant discipline by May 2020;
  • Possess teaching experience preferably at the K-6 elementary level or in a related field;
  • Advanced communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal);
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices for educating adult learners including experiential and active learning strategies;
  • Experience teaching in a diverse, urban context;
  • Able to respond appropriately to the academic, social, and cultural, needs of diverse adult learners; and
  • Comfortable with the use of technology in the classroom to enhance instructional

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to course development and assessment strategies as necessary;

Summary

Pillar College is seeking qualified and experienced ESL and English instructors to teach day, evening, and weekend courses in composition and literature at various locations in New Jersey and Florida: Newark, Paterson, Somerset and Miami.

Qualifications for English instructors:Ph.D or master's degree in English Literature or Rhetoric and Composition.

Qualifications for ESL instructors:Master's degree in TESOL, or closely related field; TESOL/ESL certification completed.

Pillar College is a growing Evangelical institution with multiple locations in New Jersey, including Newark, Paterson, Somerset, Plainfield and Jersey City.

The Experienced College Admissions Counselor is a full-time position and reports to the Director of Admissions. This person is responsible for supporting new student recruitment and enrollment growth and is the face of Pillar College (PC) at events, Info Sessions, church visits and all student recruitment efforts. The Counselor works close with the Marketing and Academic teams to ensure all goals are met and students receive excellent service.

The successful candidate must believe in the mission of Pillar College.

  • Enroll given percentage of students based on Admissions target goals.
  • Heavy phone work; 100 daily outbound calls responding to inquiries focused on setting admissions interviews with prospective students.
  • Compassionately communicate a strong sense of urgency with prospective students to complete application process before admissions deadline.
  • Must be available to work on weekends, evenings, days and occasional split shifts. Required to work at least one Sunday a month.
  • Assisting with occasional cross departmental projects and front desk/receptionist duties (i.e. phone coverage, and greeting visitors).
  • Keep consistent and accurate records of prospective and current student contacts within the college database.
  • Including, but not limited to, other related tasks as described in summary above.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

  • Higher education sales, telemarketing, or tele-counseling experience preferred.
  • Ability to sit and make phone calls for several hours per day.
  • Computer skills and knowledge about database programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Marketing, sales, financial aid and telemarketing background is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Two years related work experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • 60% of the time is spent sitting at desk using the phone and computer.
  • 40% of the time is spent standing at display booths and other events 2-8 hours per event.

Department: Academic Affairs/Registrar - Newark Campus
Position: Part time hourly (not to exceed 20 hours weekly)

SUMMARY:

The student worker for Academics supports the Registrar's office and Department Chairs by providing administrative support, primarily in the evening hours. Assist with special projects as directed and provide face-to-face support for students after standard business operation hours have ended.

WORK PERFORMED includes but is not limited to the following:

1. Provide general answers to frequently asked questions (i.e. "help-desk" type support) to students and faculty including but not limited to:

a. Pillar email, Moodle, and portal navigation

2. Data entry into CampusVue related to student records

3. Filing documents in departmental files

4. Answering the phone and make phone calls on behalf of the department

5. Creating and updating records in the department database

6. Copying, sorting and shredding materials

7. Compiling information as requested by the departmental supervisor

8. Conducting research using the internet as requested

9. Scheduling appointments for the department

10. Assist with video conference courses when offered

11. Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current enrollment as a matriculating student with a cum GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Commitment to Christ.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills interacting with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public.
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in MS Office applications and audio/visual equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA) the Senior Accountant needs to be an experienced, self-starting multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude to run all accounting functions.

WORK PERFORMED but not limited to:

ACCOUNTING:

  • Ready and maintain financial transactions, applying accounting principles, that include work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.
  • Project accounting data to show the effects of proposed plans on, revenue, cash position, and overall financial condition.
  • Interpret the meaning of accounting records, reports, and statements. Advise leadership on accounting matters.
  • Prepare financial reports (i.e. balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow, other financial reports)
  • Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Partner with executive leadership to strategize and implement procedures to manage cashflow.
  • Formulate and manage financial policies and procedures. Partner with CEO to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budget strategy and preparation cycle.
  • Oversee financial audits by Board appointed auditors and funding sources.
  • Compile and present financial overview to the Board and executive leadership
  • Plan the manner in which account structures should be developed or modified.
  • Periodically evaluate the need for new or changed controls.
  • Supervise and guide the work of the accounting clerk.
  • Assist AVPF in developing and implementing policies and procedures for purchasing to be used by all departments
  • Develop an annual calendar and ensure that various fiscal deadlines are met and appropriate data provided. This includes annual and semi-annual reports for Board meetings, and also various required reports such as IPEDS and others.

GENERAL ASSISTANCE TO EXECUTIVE STAFF

  • Special projects as designated by the Executive Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Finance

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience :

  • Bachelors' Degree in accounting/finance required.
  • Five years of accounting experience in a high pressure multi-task office environment

Under the leadership of the President, the VP, Finance & Administration is responsible for accurately administering the operational and financial concerns of Pillar College for assuring budget compliance and financial stability. He or she is a member of the President's Cabinet and Leadership Team and is responsible for the implementation and oversight of policies, personnel, and procedures within the organization. The VP, Finance & Administration provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight in all key administrative matters of the College. The summary of the description is:

  • With direct oversight of 3 executive directors, drive the operational effectiveness of Pillar College and all associated organizations through thorough strategic planning and effective financial controls.
  • The VP, Finance & Administration has principal responsibility for solving organizational problems in order to keep the President focused on the primary task of governance and the executive leadership of Pillar College.
  • Responsible for driving effectiveness in the business areas and drive and assist with the launch of new programs to serve the community.
  • Oversee the operational side of the College in an effort consistent with the achievement of its strategic plan.
  • Ensure operational consistency of both the organizational, operations and financial functions within the College.
  • Responsible for developing Key Performance Measurement process and system for effective communication of financial and organizational metrics for the President and the Board.
