Tri-County OIC is seeking Full Time and Part Time ESL Instructors Job description Local non-profit education center seeks a Full Time and two Part Time ESL instructors to teach adult ESL classes as outlined below. Responsible for preparing students from diverse language and cultural backgrounds in English language literacy. Duties include instructing multi- level classes, supervising classroom aides, assessing students, and curriculum development. Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience.
Part-time duties will focus on instruction and ancillary administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in English language acquisition/ESL and civics/civic responsibility using a content-based instruction model.
- Provide instruction for in-person and/or remote for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners as determined by supervisor.
- Prepare lessons and activities using the PA Department of Education’s Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) content guide as a framework.
- Develop and integrate digital literacy skills within lessons. Integrate language preparation for workforce training as needed. Adapt lessons and activities to meet students’ needs.
- Differentiate lessons and instruction and use teaching methods for multi-level classrooms.
- Develop instruction to include independent, asynchronous learning and self-management skills.
- Collaborate on a team with other instructors and program administrators to meet program and grant requirements.
- Provide ongoing case management services for each student to identify educational, individual and career goals, barriers, and assist students in developing a plan to meet goals, as well as referring students to other resources and programs within Tri-County OIC. T
- rack student attendance, participation and progress.
- Assess students for academic gains.
- Compile data as needed for student reports.
- Participate in PA Department of Education professional development activities. Participate in organization-wide meetings and events.
- Coordinate orientation for new students as determined by supervisor.
- Assume responsibility for various programs and initiatives that develop throughout the program year..
- Complete other administrative duties and requirements as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability and willingness to work closely with program team
- Knowledge of adult learning principles Experience working with adult English Language Learners
- Ability to provide instruction for both in-person and remote formats
- Ability and willingness to work with all proficiency levels
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing requirements is critical
- Proficiency in another language is NOT required as our classes are immersive English instruction
