Job Duties:

  1. Instruct elementary students in Literacy, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in Mandarin, and English only if necessary for clarity.
  2. Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following appropriate Colorado State Academic Content Standards and school curriculum guidelines and requirements.
  3. Manage and maintain classroom in compliance with State of Colorado, Department of Health and Human Services requirements and school policy and procedure.
  4. Plan, prepare and teach high quality lessons in line with current best practice taking into account school population and school learning principles.
  5. Challenge and inspire students by matching learning to the differing educational needs and learning styles of individuals in classes and groups assigned.
  6. Assess, record and report the development, progress and attainment of students.
  7. Design educational activities to encourage age-appropriate motor, social, language and critical thinking skills.
  8. Prepare, administer and correct tests and record results.
  9. Teach rules of conduct and maintain order in classroom and on playground.
  10. Counsel students when behavioral or academic problems arise. Monitor progress in accordance with improvement plans and adjust as necessary.
  11. Discuss student academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents or guardians.
  12. Keep attendance and grade records per School requirements.
  13. Prepare report cards and review student progress. Design and implement appropriate plans for student evaluation, improvement and progress.
  14. Coordinate and supervise class field trips to enhance learning objectives for immersion education programs.
  15. Promote positive professional partnerships between home and school.
  16. Report to parents at scheduled parent/teacher conferences and through use of written report.
  17. Participate in supervision duties, staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops and various co-curricular, extra-curricular activities that promote school programs and reputation.
  18. Communicate and consult with Division Coordinator, Student Support specialists and/or Principal regarding student issues that may require action beyond the classroom.
  19. Facilitate collaboration between grade levels.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Bilingual Education or Teaching English as Second Language (TESL), closely related field or the foreign educational equivalent

Special Requirements: Ability to speak, read, and write Mandarin Chinese.
