POSITION TITLE: Summer ESL Instructor

Reports to: ESL Coordinator/Director of Intensive English Language Program


Seeking ESL part-time instructor candidates for Summer, 2022 at the Manhattan College campus in Riverdale, Bronx. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of Manhattan College.

_Dates: June 29 - August 8, 2022_

**Please indicate for which sessions you will be available while applying. Candidates must be available for the entirety of each two-week session.

Instructors will teach ESL classes for teenagers from 8:30AM - 12:45PM, weekdays, during their sessions.

Under the general direction of the Director of the Intensive English Language Program and ESL Summer Coordinators, Instructors will provide ESL classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating the attainment of student learning objectives.

Instructors must be available for a training session prior to their first day of teaching. Dates and times of training sessions to be determined and will be disseminated to successful candidates.


  • Provide academic instruction to students through communicative English language courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and other instructional settings;

  • Plan and organize instruction utilizing the proprietary online instructional materials and curricula;

  • Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment and attendance;

  • Upon hire, take part in Program training.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Completed degree.

  • One year teaching experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • As related to teaching.

  • As required to move from one part of campus to another.

Special Requirements: Experience with online instructional platforms desired.

Interviews for this position will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Remuneration: $21.00 - $25.00/hour
