The Department of English at Purdue University is seeking up to four Visiting Clinical Instructors to teach first-year writing courses for Introductory Composition in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. Each position is a one-year full-time, academic year (9 month) appointment, starting in August 2022. The position includes benefits. Courses may include in-person mainstream versions of English 106 (Composition) and English 108 (Accelerated Composition), as well as specialized in-person sections that serve multilingual writers (ESL) or learning communities.
The teaching load is 20-24 credit hours per year (usually 3/3), including holding three office hours per week for students and attending three staff meetings each semester. All instructors in the program need to develop appropriate syllabi and policies within the guidelines provided by the program. Sections will need to be offered in person, but online sections (asynchronous) are sometimes available.

Minimum of a Master’s degree in English, Communication, or related discipline. PhD preferred. Experience teaching introductory composition at the college level is required. Experience teaching English composition to multilingual writers is a plus but not required.
