Details

EnGen is a skills-focused, virtual English-language learning platform for organizations and employers working with limited English proficient employees.

EnGen is launching in-person ESL classes for Amazon Associates at several select fulfillment centers. Each fulfillment center is equipped with a smart classroom where the classes will take place. Levels and class rosters are yet to be determined. In general, there will be a minimum of 12 and maximum of 15 learners per class.

These classes will have the following objectives:

  • Improve learners’ productive language skills

  • Ensure learners are developing English skills aligned with their real-world goals

  • Prepare learners to use English for their career, educational, and personal objectives

Each learner is enrolled on the EnGen platform and receives customized content based on their level, goals, and needs. The in-person class will be based on a flipped classroom model, where the learners will have a chance to practice what they’ve learned on the platform and work towards their own real-world objectives through various activities such as discussions and role plays. There will be a rotating set of instructional objectives, depending upon learners’ needs and goals. The role of the teacher will be to plan and facilitate these activities to support learners in reaching the class objectives.
