The Part-Time ESL Instructor will be responsible for competency-based instruction in managed classroom, independent learning situations, and including possible online classes. Non-credit ESL courses consist of multi-level English instruction for anyone 18 years or older. Duties include, but are not limited to: teaching listening, speaking, reading and writing using English Language Proficiency Standards and College and Career Readiness standards, Burlington English and other digital instructional opportunities, maintaining student records including but not limited to, attendance, student follow-up and retention, enrollment and updating student records in electronic database, and management of materials and resources. Fostering a safe and civil learning environment. Monitoring, evaluating, and documenting progress and competency attainment.
Bachelor's degree in Education.
Ability to pass a background check.
Master's degree related to ELL/ESL Education, Demonstrated effectiveness working with populations having diverse values, and/or coming from varied cultures and backgrounds.
Ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds, ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, and ability to work with diverse populations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
Salary : $20.00/hour
