Black Hawk College seeks a full-time, Tenure-track English As A Second Language (Adult Education)  Instructor for the Fall 2022 semester. The teaching assignment will begin in August 2022.


Faculty member is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; by developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience; develop and execute appropriate methods of evaluating students' performance; develop, secure, and maintain the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.  


Classes are scheduled 9 am - 12 pm, Monday - Friday; and  5:30 pm - 8 pm, Monday - Thursday. Other assigned duties may vary throughout the week.

Education & Esperience:

Master's degree in TESOL/TESL/TEFL//ESL or Linguistics and two semesters of documented experience teaching ESL to adult learners whose educational attainment is less than postsecondary level required.
 
OR

Master's degree in a related field with a Bachelor's degree in TESOL/TESL/TEFL/ESL or Linguistics and two semesters of documented experience teaching ESL learners required. ICCB required professional development coursework to meet Standards Proficient Instructor criteria required within two years of initial employment. (Rev. 5/6/11) (Rev. 5/23/12) (Rev. 6/30/16)  

OR

Master’s degree in a related field with a Bachelor’s degree in Education; having a valid Illinois ESL Endorsement or equivalent and two semesters of documented experience teaching ESL learners required. ICCB required professional development coursework to meet Standards Proficient Instructor criteria required within two years of initial employment.

All candidates must:
• be able and willing to work with adult minority populations on all levels;
• demonstrate oral and written English proficiency;
• demonstrate instructional technology proficiency for the classroom.

Minimum starting salary for full-time faculty is $49,116 per year and is commensurate with education and experience. Full-time faculty have a base contract of 9 months and are paid over 12 months per year. Base load is based on 30 equated hours per academic year.
