The College of Education at Butler University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track lecturer position with an expected start date of August 2022. The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in the areas of elementary education and instruction for culturally and linguistically diverse students, including Emergent Bilingual/Multilingual students; experience teaching in educational and/or community settings; and a demonstrated commitment to interrupting and eliminating inequitable outcomes, to removing barriers, and to creating inclusive conditions for individuals and communities, regardless of any predictive identities. The candidate should demonstrate alignment with the COE Shared Commitments. The candidate will teach primarily in College of Education programs with potential opportunities to assist in building local pipelines into the College of Education and to teach in the University core curriculum.

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in education or related field by contract start date, experience as an educator working with elementary-aged culturally and linguistically diverse learners in school-based and/or community-facing organizations, knowledge of literacy development for Emergent Bilingual/Multilingual students, and evidence of sustained commitment and action towards diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational and/or community settings.

Desired requirements: experience working with educators, families, and/or community members from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds; interest and experience in building connections within the local Indianapolis community; bilingual or multilingual fluency (Spanish-English preferred); an English as a Second Language teaching license; experience with Emergent Bilingual/Multilingual students in middle and high school settings; and university teaching experience.

Expectations: Lecturers in the College of Education typically teach 12 credit hours of courses each semester and participate in service to the College and the University, including serving as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.
