Alternative Provision (AP) in Hackney, East London is recruiting for a long term & full time MPS or UPS English Teacher/ Teacher of English/ SEN Teacher. This role is to commence in January 2022

This is a successful Alternative Provision (AP) that caters to Children diagnosed with ASC/ SEMH & Behavioural Difficulties. Robust SLT, SEN Teachers & Behaviour support staff. All SEN Teachers at this provision have been graded a minimum of 'Good' within lesson observations. Children range 11 - 17 years old. Children respond positively genuine, engaging, empathetic and dedicated staff.

Fantastic opportunity has arisen for either an NQT or Experienced (MPS or UPS) English Teacher / Teacher of English who can offer English at KS3 to GCSE levels (preferable if you can also teach English functional skills but not essential)

**This role is NOT Suitable for EAL/ ESOL/ TEFL/ TESOL/ EFL/ ESL etc Teachers**.

You will be well qualified Secondary trained teacher (ie PGCE/ GTP/ SCITT/ Teach First / Cert Ed or QTS. You will be teaching small groups of children, class sizes are between 5 - 7 per class. You will be able to put your stamp in department and able to lead, teach, plan and deliver fun an engaging English lessons. You will be working and have worked with children with behavioural difficulties (ie ODD/ADD/ASC/ CAMHS / SEMH/ ADHD/ ASD/ Behaviour etc) and your experience would have been in either a Secondary Mainstream School/ Alternative Provision / Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)or SEN School with behavioural pupils.

  • Qualified Teacher; ie PGCE/ GTP/ Cert Ed/ Teach First/ SCITT/ QTS etc.
  • NQTs and Experienced Teachers (MPS or UPS) welcome to apply!
  • Experience teaching KS3 & GCSE English Literature & language Teacher ( NOT Suitable for a EAL/ ESOL/ TEFL/ TESOL/ EFL/ ESL etc Teachers**.)
  • IF you can teach English functional skills this would be preferable but not essential
  • Your teaching experience with SEN children; ie ODD/ADD/ASC/ Complex Needs /CAMHS/ SEMH/ ASD/ ADHD/ Behaviour Difficulties
  • You have worked in either a; PRU (Pupil Referral Unit)/ Alternative Provision (AP) / SEN School or Mainstream Secondary School (with challenging behaviour)
  • Open to teaching children in small groups
  • Can build a strong rapport with your pupils
  • In close commuting distance to Hackney, East London
