Job Details
Position Summary: The Program Coordinator works with public policy matters and communications for the association. This includes research and analysis on TESOL policy issues and coordination of policy-related activities. In addition, the program coordinator assists with press-releases and other external messaging, social media activities, and TESOL’s communications strategy.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Track, analyze, and conduct research on legislation and issues related to TESOL’s policy work
- Assist with the TESOL Advocacy Action Center, including the creation of new campaigns, tracking of advocate actions, and follow-up on constituent meetings that are logged.
- Assist with scheduling meetings for the (future) working group on multi-lingualism
- Assisting with event planning and managing speaker invitations
- Coordinate communications between departments
- Manage TESOL’s Twitter channel
- Serve as a contact person for issues related to the advocacy track at the convention
- Other duties as assigned
Education, skills, and experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in public policy or public administration.
- 3+ years of work experience and demonstrated success in government relations, public policy, communications, or related area that involved policy research
- Work experience in an association or other non-profit organization preferred.
- Exceptional communications skills.
- Flexible and able to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
- Knowledge of advocacy software or other related tools.
Required to travel: Yes, to attend local training, business meetings, and annual convention
