The Department of Teaching and Learning at the Peabody College of Education and Human Development invites applications for open-rank, non-tenure track professors of the practice position in Multilingual Learner Education beginning Fall 2022. Qualifications include an earned doctorate in multilingual learner education or related field (e.g., applied linguistics, TESOL, sociolinguistics, etc.). Applicants should demonstrate evidence of or strong potential for practice-based scholarship. As such, we seek a scholar who: is an accomplished teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels in topics related to Multilingual Learner Education; has significant experience in P-12 and other educational settings (domestically and/or internationally) serving multilingual learners; can collaborate with current faculty in designing teacher education pedagogies that will support novice teachers as they develop commitment to and skills for anti-oppressive, socially-just, and equitable educational practices; is willing to collaborate in program development and administration; will plan and collaborate with local districts and organizations serving multilingual learners and communities.
At Peabody, the role of Practice-line Faculty is centered at the nexus of applied research and practice. In this position, faculty have multi-year, renewable appointments, receive mentoring, and are reviewed regularly for potential promotion.
We will begin reviewing applications November 15, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit:
- Letter of interest including 1-2 paragraphs describing how the work advances teaching and/or furthers equitable aspects of learning and teaching among multilingual learners
- Teaching Statement
- Scholarly paper
