The University of Rhode Island’s School of Education invites applications for a full-time academic year position in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Bilingual/Dual Language Education beginning in Fall 2022 as a tenure track assistant professor. The successful candidate would be expected to teach courses to both undergraduate and graduate students and serve as an advisor.

The selected candidate will be expected to participate in department and university committees; develop and maintain collaborative and professional partnerships with local schools and districts; conduct scholarly activities such as research in a particular field of knowledge, and submit for publication and/or presentation at professional conferences. The search committee is particularly interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will enhance the School’s commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and academic excellence.

Developing and maintaining an appropriate agenda of research and funding; teaching courses for TESOL and bilingual/dual language teacher education, including, but not limited to second language acquisition, methods of TESOL/bilingual education, advising undergraduate and graduate students; and engaging in sustainable partnerships with local schools and districts to build knowledge and improve practices that serve multilingual students.
