Saint Francis University invites applications for a full time position of Director for SFU Global Learning. The Director is responsible to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and oversees the strategy and operations for language learning, off-campus study programs (domestic and international) including community engaged learning. The Director supervises and monitors all language programs to ensure quality and compliance according to language proficiency, university and HR policies and procedures. The director identifies, manages, and evaluates qualified full and part time faculty. The Director supervises the SFU Ambialet, France Director to ensure growth of the University's signature semester-long study abroad program. The Director oversees all off-campus study programming and community outreach especially to support campus wide community engaged learning. The Director is the primary point of contact for students before, during, and after study away experiences including facilitating processes related to program recruitment, application procedures, visas, travel, pre-departure preparation, point of contact during programs, and post program follow-up. The Director works closely with School Deans, especially the Dean of STEAM (with whom the Director has a dual dotted line reporting relationship for supervision of international language programs). The Director works with other areas of the University, including enrollment management, financial aid, athletics, faculty, and the University's administration, to ensure collaboration across all departments and compliance with federal, accreditation, and international regulations.


Qualifications: Doctorate (Ph.D. or other terminal degree) in a language or related international or cultural discipline; modern language fluency ( French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic,etc.), and preferably more than one of these languages; evidence of active involvement in the field through presentations, publications, offices held in professional world language and cultural learning organizations; engagement with TESOL, NAFSA, AAIE, etc.; demonstrated administrative experience, including experience supervising people, managing a complex budget, and overseeing deadline driven processes; experience in teaching and scholarly work in one or more modern languages and cultural learning abroad; ability to develop start-up programs as well as to organize and manage new university driven initiatives through an entrepreneurial approach to global education; competency as a team player and team leader demonstrating ability to work collegially and productively across and within a university community; capable of fostering and promoting cultural integration and sensibilities throughout the SFU curriculum; exhibits organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and a proven ability to quickly process and prioritize expectations including effectively managing last minute and/or crisis situations in international contexts; accomplished working with international or other diverse student populations and ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment; experience with student and faculty exchange and visitor programs; experience teaching in an intensive, university college-based language program; willingness and ability to travel cost effectively as/if required.
