Job Description
ESOL TEACHER
The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Instructor provides in-person instruction for developing adult students ability to effectively perform courses of study in English and acquire the English language.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Instruction must be consistent and coordinated with the programs curriculum materials so that students meet and exceed learning targets.
* Develops and delivers lesson plans utilizing a broad range of techniques and strategies that develop each students ability to read, write, speak, and listen in content areas at levels that ensure language skill development.
* Administers academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students progress.
* Maintains complete and accurate records of students progress and attendance.
* Provides a supportive and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.
* Adapts instruction to a virtual setting if classes switch from in-person to remote learning for safety reasons.
* Understands and complies with policies, rules, and regulations regarding the Community Learning Programs at KIPP Massachusetts.
* Performs other duties as may be requested by the Family and Community Engagement Managers and Managing Director of Equity & Engagement.
REQUIREMENTS
* Teaching experience (TESOL Certificate a plus)
* Availability to work Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in Boston or Lynn
* Ability to pass a CORI check
