Seeking 2 FULL-TIME Instructor(s) for our IEP and Teacher Training Programs.  Starting dates in October or until filled

Position ONE:  Twenty hours teaching per week in an Intensive English Program (IEP), and/or ESL support courses for matriculated degree seeking international students; • Responsibility for curriculum and materials development associated with courses taught as well as input into overall program curricula; • Attendance at staff development and in-service training meetings; • Attendance at all faculty meetings; • Attendance at receptions and culminating activities; • Textbook evaluation; • Submission of syllabi for courses taught; grades, student comments, and attendance record keeping; • Attendance on field trips as necessary, but not exceeding one per quarter; • Office hours for student advising and counseling as necessary; • Committee work. 

Position TWO: Combination of TEFL Teacher Training, IEP instruction, and/or administrative Support for Grants, Teacher Training and Special Programs. Provide administrative program support to the Teacher Training and Special Programs Coordinator; • Responsibility for teaching in our TEFL Certificate, IEP and/or Contract programs; curriculum and materials development associated with courses taught as well as input into overall special programs curricula; • Attendance at staff development and in-service training meetings; • Attendance at faculty meetings; • Attendance at receptions, field trips, and other special programs events and culminating activities.

The University of Arkansas, home to J. William Fulbright, is a mid-size comprehensive university with over 29,000 students with around 1480 international students from approximately 120 countries pursuing both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Our IEP has a diverse population of students from myriad countries and regions of the globe. Our mission supports the Fulbright legacy of "Peace through Education".  

Spring International faculty teach a highly rigorous intensive English for academic purposes program for those international students preparing to enter the University of Arkansas or other higher education institutions of their choice. Students may enter the University of Arkansas upon completion of the IEP's advanced levels in lieu of taking the TOEFL. The IEP is host to a variety of Fulbright and other special programs from myriad countries.

Spring International Language Center at the University of Arkansas' IEP and Teacher Training Programs are accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and continue to uphold the highest standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Qualifications include the following: *Strong academic preparation: MA TESL, applied linguistics, or related field. *Knowledge base of grammar, reading, writing, and listening/speaking teaching strategies and methods (ability to give clear grammar explanations)  Interns should have completed at least two-semesters of their MA degree  *Teaching experience, preferably in an intensive academic preparation program *Cross-cultural sensitivity *Strong classroom management skills, organizational and planning skills, ability to give clear, concise directions and explanations *High level of English proficiency: good command of written and spoken English *Proficiency in a second language preferred *International experience preferred *Creativity *Professional involvement (TESOL, affiliate TESOL's, etc.) *Strong  interpersonal/communication skills *Excellent computer skills and Technology experience. Position Two: Teacher Training, admin, and special programs experience required.  Willingness to work variable hours, as needed, to meet the needs of special programs' activities and a variety of academic curricula.   Please feel free to write to us if you have any Please feel free to write to us if you have any questions.
