The [College of Education ](https://business.uccs.edu/)at the [University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) ](https://www.uccs.edu/experience/about-uccs)will establish and maintain a pool of *Lecturers* in the* Department of Teaching and Learning - Traditional Supervision *from which future appointments of temporary, non-tenure track positions for supervising teacher candidates in field placements will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester. Temporary lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. Temporary lecturer appointments will accrue sick leave. Qualified applicants will be placed in the department pool and will be considered for part-time departmental needs to supervise student teacher candidates in Inclusive Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning. The majority of student teacher supervision occurs in-person. Due to specific location and programming, some student teacher candidates, however, may require hybrid or virtual supervision. Undergraduate programs in the Department of Teaching and Learning include the Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Elementary Education, Bachelor of Arts in Inclusive Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Innovation in Inclusive Early Childhood Leadership. Licensure/certificate programs at the undergraduate level are offered in Special Education, Elementary Education, and Secondary Education.Graduate programs in the Department of Teaching and Learning include the Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Master of Arts in Special Education, and Master of Science in Science Teaching. Licensure/certificate programs at the graduate level are offered in Alternative Licensure, Culturally Linguistically Diverse Education, Gifted and Talented PK-12, Inclusive Behavior Intervention, Inclusive Early Childhood Education, Teaching Mathematics, Instructional Technology (certificate only), and TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) /TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate (certificate only). Participate in the interview and selection process of prospective teacher candidates Work with the principal to find appropriate placements for teacher candidates at the school siteAttend monthly meetings for UCCS University Supervisors Formally observe each teacher candidate multiple times a semesterUtilize video observation tools (e.g., GoReact) to evaluate and give feedback to teacher candidatesComplete Educator Disposition Assessments for teacher candidates and enter these evaluations and formal observation evaluations for mentor teachers into an assessment databaseGrade teacher candidates' work submitted in an assessment database (lesson plans, lesson reflections, video analysis assignments, etc.)Conduct regular visits at the school site to address concerns, provide information about school policies and programs, clarify expectations, and provide guidance for the development of resume/cover letter/ interview skillsMeet individually with mentor teachers to discuss teacher candidates' growth and needsEnsure effective communication about expectations and support for the work and concerns of mentor teachers and teacher candidates Meet with each teacher candidate individually for midterm evaluationComplete a summative evaluation of each teacher candidate at the end of each semesterParticipate in local scoring of edTPAParticipate in scoring of the teacher candidates' program portfoliosRespond to student learning needs in a timely mannerImplement culturally responsive practices *Job Competencies:*

Supervision courses are 3, 6, or 12 credits. Qualifications

Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or closely related field - OR - 6 years of professional experience teaching at the early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary levelsAt least three years of professional teaching experienceAt least three years of experience working directly with children in the classroom settings*Desired Qualifications:*
