Primary school in Blackpool, rated good with outstanding characteristics, seeking an ECT for their year 5.

Your new company

Hays have partnered with a well-known Primary School in Blackpool, who are seeking an Early Career Teacher (NQT) for their Year 5 class. The school was recently rated good with outstanding characteristics by OFSTED, and they are continuing to improve year-on-year. This is a focus for the SLT, who are fairly established, with a good local reputation. The school is two-form entry, with class sizes of 26 to 30 pupils.

The school is centrally located in Blackpool, close to the town centre. Transport links are exceptional; the school is a short distance from the nearest tram stop and a short drive from the M55 motorway.

Your new role

In your new role, you will take the reigns of the schools Year 5 class, taking on full-class responsibility from day one. This will involve lesson planning, observation, classroom management, assessment and daily teaching. The Year 5 class is diverse, with 28 pupils from a range of backgrounds; this includes 2 SEND registered pupils (aided by a specialist teaching assistant) and a child with ESL. The class is well behaved and calm, making this an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher (NQT).

This role will begin in September 2021 on a long-term temporary basis. Initially, this role will be 2 months in duration, with potential to become permanent.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful applicant will be an Early Career Teacher (NQT) who has qualified in the last 4 years. QTS is an essential requirement for this role. Experience working in KS2 is preferred, but not essential. The school values attitude above all, so a driven and ambitious NQT with a can-do attitude would be ideal.

Applicants must have a minimum of 2 months teaching experience within the past 5 years, although this can include experience as part of a university placement or SCITT programme.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will receive a market-leading rate of pay (between £85 and £127 per day DOE). As a Hays Teacher, you will gain access to our exclusive e-learning platform - where you can complete training on safeguarding, child protection and more. Registered candidates will also gain access to our refer-a-friend scheme, where you can earn £250 per referral.
