(2021-2022) Texas - ESL Teaching Assistant

Job Title: Instructional Paraprofessional-ESL Reports to: Headmasters and teacher(s) Primary Purpose: Assist the ESL Teacher in federal, state, and local administrative requirements of the English as a Second Language Program. Assist the lead teacher with students to ensure their excellent care, safety in the classroom, and instructional needs are met. Work under the supervision of an ESL Certified teacher. Work in coordination with all teachers, staff, and administration on campus. Qualifications: Education/Certification : High School Diploma/Bachelors Degree, preferred Experience: Prior experience working with children, preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Effective communication skills with children/youth Self-motivated Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Assist lead teacher with classroom management. * Assist with physical safety, emotional, social and educational needs of children. * Work with teacher for on the job training through: * Planning and teaching large group * Planning and teaching small group * Planning and teaching whole group classes * Attend trainings and meetings as requested by administrators. * Directs all communications with families to the lead teacher. * Assist teacher with daily preparation and cleanup of classroom. * Assist teacher in gathering student academic information from internal and external sources, including grade reports, assessment data, etc. * Assist with the organization and preparation of the Language Proficiency Test administration for new students. * Comply with all attendance guidelines and policies of the district. * Work effectively with other staff members. * Arrives to work on time daily. * Maintain proper professional appearance. * Perform other duties as assigned by lead teacher and administration Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
