iTEP International seeks to hire a Director of Academics. This position oversees the Academics unit which includes all areas of content development, new test development, testing operations, grading, test reliability, and all other related areas. In addition, the Director is also responsible for management and oversight of iTEP’s professional graders, content developers, and other academic support consultants.

The International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) was introduced in 2008 to modernize English language assessment with on-demand scheduling, 24-hour grading, and accurate test data. iTEP provides a convenient and cost-effective testing option delivered in a highly secure environment – whether at a test center or at home.

iTEP offers an array of English language assessment testing that includes both academic exams and business/career exams. More than 1,000 educational institutions world-wide accept iTEP scores for international student admissions. In addition, many ESL/IEP programs of universities, as well as language schools, utilize iTEP testing for on-campus assessment and program placement. iTEP business testing is utilized by numerous major multi-national companies needing to evaluate English proficiency for hiring or promotion purposes. iTEP has specialized career tests, such as the Au Pair or Hospitality exams, that help individuals in specific career tracks

Position Responsibilities:

Overseeing all daily iTEP testing, including exam delivery, grading, reviews, and reporting.

Managing development of new test content for iTEP’s academic and business/career exams.

Evaluating the validity, reliability, usage levels, and relevance of all active test content for iTEP’s academic and business/career exams.

Managing development of all online test preparation materials and classes.

Managing all hard-copy published test preparation materials and in-person classes.

Facilitating the hiring, training, quality control, and performance evaluations of iTEP’s professional graders.

Directing the hiring, training, quality control, and performance evaluations of iTEP’s content developers.

Overseeing consultants hired to develop and complete academic projects

Executing the generation of reports and research that maintain and enhance the quality of iTEP testing.

Developing and implementing the Academic Unit’s annual budget.

Attending professional conferences and presenting on English language and testing topics.

Traveling (limited) domestically to conferences and campus site visits as required.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Experience Qualifications:

Minimum of three years’ experience and expertise in English as a Second Language teaching and/or training programs.

Minimum of three years’ experience with ESL testing and language assessment.

Strong demonstrated familiarity with current English as a Second Language content knowledge including language acquisition, online test delivery, AI integration, and best practices.

Strong demonstrated background in ESL test design and development.

Strong demonstrated background in test data evaluation and analysis.

Demonstrated experience in an administrative role overseeing personnel, budget, and project development.

Academic Qualifications:

Required: Masters in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related area.

Preferred: PhD in ESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related area.
