POSITION AVAILABLE:

- KIPP Pleasant Grove Primary



The role of the ESL Coordinator will work directly with all grade students who have struggled to display a mastery of the TEKS, as practiced within their classroom on a daily basis.

Establish an effective BOY, MOY, EOY LPACs.



* Establish, facilitate, prepare and maintain documentation for an LPAC (committee) that meets quarterly and makes decisions/recommendations on identification, instructional accommodations, EL intensive language services, monitors progress, and reclassification

* Executes a comprehensive professional development plan aligned to the EL student needs recommended in the LPAC

* Recruits & trains the staff and parents who serve on the LPAC

* Responsible for preparing and delivering annual report to parents on student progress and LPAC decisions

* Responsible for providing parents with identification and eligibility documents, tracks and documents successful participation.

* Work closely with the ARD Committee, RTI committees, SPED teachers, 504 committee, dyslexia program, etc. to coordinate services to dually serve EL students.



Identification & Records of ELs.



* Ensure ELs are accurately identified upon entry and that bilingual/lep coding is in Skyward and ELLevation platform.

* Navigate, train and support teachers, leaders on ELLevation platform.

* Ensure the school maintains accurate and up to date rosters of ELs and that regional systems are implemented with fidelity and in a timely manner.

* Ensure language cumulative files and tangible documents are organized, maintained and accurate.

* Support in collecting informationfrom your assigned school to determine the need for an application for Bilingual exception & ESL waiver for your region.

* With operations staff support compile demographic data and all data needed for PEIMS submission that aligns with KTX and state requirements (parent permissions, parent denials, etc)

* Collect & provide campus EL info as needed related to Title III, ESSA, and Campus Improvement Plans, etc.



Ongoing analyzation and sharing of data with LPAC, teachers, students and leaders to monitor EL progress through the year.



* Lead the implementation and execution of the LAS LINKS, Pre-LAS, LAS LINKS reclassification, TELPAS, IOWA and STAAR state/federal assessments

* Ensure school completes assessments with validity.

* Ensure and train on EL data practices from formative assessments (Interim Assessments, STEP, MAP, CIRCLE) is analyzed, and utilized at the school and classroom level to inform instructional practices.

* Support in maintaining locked inventory of campus testing materials (LAS LINKS, IOWA, Pre-LAS, LAS LINKS reclassification, and TELPAS testing materials).

* Attend weekly leadership data meeting to progress monitor EL mastery, EL gaps, and growth and recommend instructional supports for improvement.



Help schools provide excellent education to all EL students, with attention to linguistic, cognitive and affective supports.



* Ensure newcomer, beginner, and intermediate EL students are receiving linguistic accommodations and intensive language intervention support by pulling consistent, daily small groups using the leveled literacy and language intervention resource (LLI).

* Plan, modify and annotate lesson plans for differentiated LLI small groups.

* Participate and execute regional Sheltered Instruction monthly trainings. These sessions will support ELPS, sheltered instruction strategies using ELLevation platform, interventions/accommodations/scaffolds for ELs,Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDs), and TELPAS.

* Accommodate priority exit tickets and lesson plans for priority courses for beginner/ newcomer EL students.

* Prepare, attend and support teachers in weekly internalization meetings for priority courses.



Help teachers learn and use available EL supplemental resources and materials, and help compile school needs, priorities and recommendations for purchases of the EL supplemental resources



* Coaching of teachers and direct managers of teachers on serving their EL students effectively using the sheltered instruction strategies stamped in PD and ELLevation platform.

* Ensure designated testing supports used on STAAR, MAP are also being used effectively in the classroom.

* Work with school leaders and Regional ESL Program Manager to ensure lesson plans include language objectives and that instruction is planned to teach both the TEKS and the ELPS at appropriate levels for the students.

* Meet bimonthly with the Regional ESL Program Manager and other ESL Leadsto receive training, collaboration, report on progress & status of various tasks, and prioritize tasks for the upcoming week, two weeks, and two months.

* Meet with school leader at least bi-monthly to review the ESL calendar, EL data, address challenges.

* Participate in a weekly sheltered instruction observation walkthrough on your assigned campus, with at least one school leader and monthly with the Regional ESL Program Manager.

* Attend and participate in external meetings related to second language acquisition as recommended by Regional ESL Program Manager.

* Collaborate with the Regional ESL Program Manager in compiling and updating second language acquisition procedures, program needs, data, and recommendations for the EOY ESL Program Evaluation report to the Board.
