The Coordinator of Multilingual Writing Support and Assistant Director of the Writing Center provides tutorial assistance for second language writers and some domestic students of varying skill levels, campus leadership regarding English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) issues, and supervisory assistance for the Writing Center.

The Assistant Director will provide one-on-one writing support for 8-12 multilingual students each term. This includes work on class papers, portfolios, application essays, comps, and reading strategies. They will help select, train, assign, and supervise peer consultants, some of whom work one-to-one with second language writing consultants in the term-long program.

This is an exempt (0.83 FTE), regular, benefit eligible staff position working ten months (mid-August through mid-June), but paid over twelve months.

The successful candidate possesses a masters degree in TESL, applied linguistics, or a related field. Must have a minimum of three years, preferred five years, of experience in writing center work and demonstrated success in teaching/tutoring academic writing to multilingual students at the postsecondary level.
