Founded in 1984 as Turkey's first private, non-profit university, Bilkent University has quickly established itself as a major center for research and teaching, attracting world-renowned scholars to its faculty and many of the very best high school graduates to its student body. In 2010-2011, Bilkent University was named by Times Higher Education, UK, as one of the top 200 universities in the world and the best university in Turkey, ranking 112th worldwide and 32nd in Europe. The university consists of nine faculties, six graduate schools (institutes), thirteen research centers and five vocational schools including the School of English Language. There are more than 10,000 students enrolled at Bilkent University, and approximately 25% of these students are on full scholarship. Bilkent University School of English Language (BUSEL) offers EFL (English as a Foreign Language) courses at a variety of levels to undergraduates entering degree programs, as well as credit bearing courses as part of undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
