Cambridge Education Group (CEG), a leading provider of pre? and concurrent?university academic and English language courses, seeks a Center Director to develop and lead its new operation, University of Rochester ONCAMPUS (UROC) in partnership with University of Rochester (UR). University of Rochester ONCAMPUS will offer an Intensive English Program (IEP) to both University of Rochester students and students who have yet to start their college studies at undergraduate or graduate level. We will welcome our first students in 2017 for the summer semester.
The University of Rochester is a highly prestigious research-intensive institution, currently ranked 32nd in the United States by US News and World Report. The university offers close to 100 undergraduate majors and still maintains a collegial feel with a 10:1 student to teacher ratio. With over 250 student organizations and students from over 120 countries the university offers diversity and a wealth of experiences to its students. Located in Western New York, just on Lake Ontario, Rochester is the state's third largest city. The city regularly hosts festivals and has beautiful parks, especially along the Genesee River. University of Rochester ONCAMPUS will offer a variety of programs including English language, content based ESL, academic, cultural, and study skills support. ONCAMPUS students will receive high-quality English language instruction and cultural preparation, tailored to international students' needs, to ensure they are prepared to succeed in their bachelor's or master's studies. Successful University of Rochester ONCAMPUS students will be eligible for admission to University of Rochester's undergraduate and graduate degree programs, provided they meet admission requirements.
The Center Director is the chief executive for the center, which offers Intensive English Programs specifically designed and aligned to teaching philosophy and learning styles of University of Rochester. The Center Director will collaborate with UR to create, develop, sustain and review the Intensive English program; welcome its first class of students, and guide their progress to successful completion, and, if successful, progression to University of Rochester.
The successful candidate will be a highly skilled educator and administrator who can successfully and creatively lead an educational venture. The Center Director should have a commitment to academic quality and to the special, individualized attention and guidance that international students require to succeed. She or he will be able to lead and inspire, at the same time exhibiting the "can?do" attitude required to sustain a new venture. The Center Director will have had extensive teaching experience, some of it with international students, and extensive experience in higher education administrative management. The Center Director will report to the Managing Director of Global University Partnerships and will be part of a growing team of Center Directors as CEG continues to develop partnerships throughout the U.S.
The Center Director is responsible for the planning, development, direction, and oversight of Intensive English Program, associated policies and processes, and administrative operations of the center. In addition she/he will work closely and collaboratively with university faculty and administration. The Center Director will see that the center retains, guides, prepares, and motivates students to progress to their career at University of Rochester. Cambridge Education Group seeks candidates with the following skills, experiences, and personal qualities:
·At least five years of teaching experience. Significant exposure to teaching international students is essential.
·An advanced degree in a relevant field such as ESOL or Educational Leadership is strongly desired. A PhD in a suitably related field is essential.
·Passionate about innovative learning strategies and inspirational teaching methods; you believe all students are capable of achieving more under your expert leadership.
·Experience in planning, executing and, evaluating a curriculum; you use quantitative and qualitative data to inform your curriculum design and review and have experience in motivating your faculty to use self? evaluation and reflective practice to enhance their teaching strategies for excellent student outcomes.
·Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to recruit, lead, motivate, coach, empower, and retain high quality academic
·At least five years of management experience at senior level in higher education.
·Passionate about creating, delivering and evaluating excellent administrative and ancillary support services for international students; you have a natural empathy for the needs of international students and the importance of such services to provide a secure platform to achieve successful academic outcomes.
·Experience of managing, leading and coordinating the array of student support services required for successful acculturation to college life in the USA; you plan, execute and evaluate service delivery and are able to foster a cheerleading ethos to ensure students are welcomed throughout campus services and feel part of the college community.
·Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to recruit, lead, motivate, coach, empower and retain high quality administrative staff.
